Statistics I is a matter of basic training taught in the second quadmester of the first course of the Degree in Economy and feature of a total of 6 credits ECTS, that correspond with 150 hours of work of the student. With this matter we pretend , in the first place, that the students are able to handle properly the information contained in a group of data. For this, they will learn to organise it, represent it graphically and sum up in a series of indicators whose correct interpretation will allow them obtain a global vision of the performance of the process in study. On the other hand, it will provide to the student the basic theoretical tool to comprise the behaviour of the random phenomena, between which include numerous economic processes, and the different models that use to represent them. The follow-up of the course of Statistics I, together with the one of Statistics II in the second course, will endow to the student of the capacity to deal with the distinct stages of a statistical investigation, from the approach of a real problem until the interpretation of the analyses realised, that will allow to understand better the characteristics of the phenomenon studied and apply this knowledge in fields like the prediction of his future behaviour.
